“Jackets That Fit Your Style”
(Approx. 1 hour)
Creating Wearable Art is a Journey! As Quilters making Wearable Art we need to look at our fabric in a stylish
manner. How can we use fabric to enhance our figure? Let's
highlight our positives and diminish our problem spots. All this can
be done quite effectively with the use of color, fabric pattern and what I
call the "Drapability" of the design. Approximately 20 to 25 jackets
will be presented.
“Using Silk Vintage Silks in Quilting”
(Approx. 1 hour)
Silk is such a luxurious fabric to incorporate into quilting.
The sheen can provide a bit of luster for special effects yet the qualities that
make silk so luscious can also drive us crazy! In working with silk, the
Shakespearean title “Taming of the Shrew” comes to mind. Stabilizers and
backings to tame silk as well as the care and laundering of vintage silk will be
discussed. With a little pre-planning and prep, silk can be tamed quite
nicely!
“It All Began As A Rectangle”
(Approx. 1 hour)
Through time, many Wearables and
Accessories began as rectangles. In this presentation we will look at
the marvelous shape of a rectangle and see how with a few modifications to
the shape we can make a jacket, evening wrap, pants, tote, purse or an
evening outfit in a very short amount of time.
“It’s All About the Fabric:
(Approx. 1 hour)
Using Large
Scale Prints in Quilting”
Using large scale print fabrics
in quilting can be a challenge! Let’s say a great large scale print fabric
caught your eye & you bought it! Yes we all love to pet our fabric but
let’s USE it and NOT LOSE it! See how fabric pattern and design can create
a quilt that sizzles using those wonderful large scale fabrics!
