Posted by Lacey J. Hill on January 11, 2010

WOW!  Just found out my Wisteria Kamon Quilt from the Simply Medallions pattern will be in this issue of Asian Fabrics Magazine!

I stopped by the Kona Bay Booth at International Quilt Market in October 2009 and they were kind enough to let me snap a picture of  the quilt.

Here’s Vicki and Kristina.  Don’t they look fabulous?

Oh, I can’t forget Doug, no he’s not a lady and he’s not in this picture but he is a wonderful guy, Blogger and Kona Bay’s “Fearless Leader”.  Doug’s usually up for a picture but he was engaged in a conversation when I stopped by.

I just love working with gorgeous Kona Bay fabrics!  The mineral green waterfall fabric is from the Emperor’s Collection and it’s one of my many favorite Kona Bay fabrics.  The applique design is my personal version of a Wisteria Kamon, or heraldry crest.

Kamon or more commonly known as “Mon” are displayed on kimono and haori to depict family loyalties or clan associations.  The Wisteria Vine has many symbolic meanings but my two favorite are Beauty & Endurance.  We have Wisteria in our backyard.  It is the most insidious vine and yet the most beautiful when in bloom.  The more I prune the vine & roots, the more beautiful it is the next year.

The Simply Medallions Pattern is published by QuiltWoman.com and also includes the Fleur-de-lis Scroll design and Meandering Heart design.  The 3 different applique designs are included so that you can choose the style that best suites your fabrics.

It truly is…All About the Fabric!
